Antiques Rescue

Antiques rescue is an augmented reality game for the whole family submitted for the cultural heritage game jam 2021.

The Cards_Print&Play.pdf contains printable cards with instructions to play AR mini games and an info box with real facts concerning cultural heritage preservation. Everyone can learn something and have fun.

In one game, players must hit the thieves before they steal an ancient vase, tapping with their fingers over the thieves.

In another, players must dig up an ancient relic from an archeological site before it is flooded.

For this game jam, only a couple of cards were designed and programmed, but the game is intended to have an initial deck of 20 cards, with possible expansions in the future.

Requirements:

1. Print the PDF file containing the cards to be scanned

2. Android device with ARCore support via Google Play Services for AR, which enables augmented reality (AR)

Instructions:

1. Once the cards are printed, it is recommended to follow the instructions included in the sheets to separate them and form the deck.
2. Download and install the app AntiquesRescue.apk
3. Shuffle the cards and place the deck upside down on the table.
4. In their turn, players draw a card from the deck, flip it and place it on the table.
5. Then, they scan the card with the application and play a mini game to save cultural objects and sites from different threats, like looting and flooding.
6. If the player wins the mini game, she gets to keep the card. If she loses, then she must return the card to the end of the deck.
7. The player with the most cards wins.
